5 Date Ideas for Busy Couples
Our Personal Tested and Approved Favorites
Life can get crazy busy, and there have been many times where finding time for one another has been challenging. But we have discovered some awesome date ideas that work wonders for busy schedules. These are simple, fun, and perfect for reconnecting when time is short.
1. Coffee Date:
One of our go-to dates is hitting up a coffee shop. We sit down, sip on our favorite drinks, and just chat and laugh. It's amazing how much joy a good laugh over a cup of coffee can bring. When we have a busy week ahead we usually like to fit in a coffee date like this to make sure we connect even for just a moment of coffee and talkie time. If time is really of the essence we will take a drive together for a coffee grab it to go and sip in the car. This may sound quick but taking a drive together while drinking our lattes or cold brews is a good way for us to chat about life and connect.
2. At-Home Date Nights:
We love these nights! Even if it's just a couple of hours, having the house to ourselves is amazing. To arrange these nights find a neighbor or nearby family to take the kids even for just two hours or over night would be even better. :) Cook dinner TOGETHER, order it, play a game or even just watch a movie and snuggle. The possibilities are endless and you’ll be amazed at how it feels to have the house all to yourselves. We find these nights are the perfect opportunity for reconnection and uninterrupted “sexy time”.
3. Progressive Dinner Date:
Have you ever been a part of a progressive dinner? They are a fun way to get a nice variety of food and quality time in. You can stay local or venture outside of your normal bubble for progressive dinner fun. We start with a drink and appetizer at one place, grab our main meal at a different restaurant, and end the night with a dessert. Sometimes, we get dessert to go and enjoy it all snuggled up at home. Either way even though this kind of date takes some planning we usually always end up having a good time adventuring together.
4. Workout Date:
Working out might not sound romantic, but trust us, it's fun! Getting healthy together is a great and beneficial way to connect. We've had some hilarious moments in workout classes, like the time Liz fell off the treadmill at Barrys Bootcamp. It hurt at first but the story we had to tell afterwards made it funny and memorable. We have taken yoga, spin and high intensity workouts together, all a good time and since most group classes are about 45 min long it’s a quick way to do something purposeful together.
5. One Night Away:
Every now and then, we treat ourselves to a one-night stay at a local hotel.(We get that this may take more time and money but it's like a mini-STAY-cation!) We stay in, wear the hotel robes and slippers, order room service, watch shows, and just relax without any interruptions. It seriously is one of our favorite ways to find time with each other. This obviously would require a day/night of your time but trust us.. if you can… do it! If you have little ones you will need to find a sitter for this but its only one night and you don’t have to do this type of date all the time. We recommend booking a Friday night for this so that the following Saturday morning you can grab a quick breakfast/coffee and head back home to the fam.
One thing we have discovered about spending time together is that no matter which date idea we pick, laughing together is key. It's not just about feeling happy; it's about feeling closer as a couple. Laughing brings us together and can honestly take the edge off of life’s struggles and hard times. It feels good to laugh so find ways to make each other laugh no matter what you choose to do.
For all the busy couples out there, don't underestimate the power of these simple moments. Embrace these ideas, enjoy the laughter, and cherish the time you get to spend together.
